ANXIETY
Anxiety disorders can cause considerable distress and disability. They are very common but despite this are often untreated and can become chronic problems.
Common anxiety problems include:
- Phobias,
- Fear of being in a social setting (social anxiety),
- Panic attacks,
- Obsessional Compulsive Disorder or OCD (where a compulsion to carry out certain rituals is driven by irrational fears about what might happen if they are not observed),
- Health anxiety.
Anxiety disorders can begin to take over your life causing you distress, and can have a considerable impact on the people around you.
They can interfere with social life, school, work, and at times become so debilitating that the sufferer can hardly bear to leave home.
Using a variety of techniques primarily based around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I can help you gain an understanding of your problem and provide techniques to help manage and overcome it.
